“Better Scream” is from the debut Wah! Heat 7″ single released February 1980 on Pete Wylie’s new Inevitable label. The band consisted of Wylie on vocals and guitars, Rob Jones on drums and former Those Naughty Lumps’ bassist Pete Younger on bass. Wylie went on to form numerous “Wah!” incarnations (others being: Wah!, J.F. Wah!, The Mighty Wah!, Shambeko! Say Wah!, etc), but this single in my opinion is his best work.
Occasionally I’ll wonder, when listening to mixtapes and such, if the wavering like in this mp3 is intentional recording technique, or the center hole was punched off-center. I have some singles like that, and often wonder what they would sound like without the waver, and then realize they would probably not sound as good. :)

Yeah, I’d say that slight phasing is a product of the recording at the time, intentional or not. It does make it better to my ears as well.
