I keep this “East of Croydon” comp LP in my collection for this song by Greenfield Leisure. They also released the “L’Orange” 7″ (1981) and “Those Far Off Summers” EP (1982) on their own Strange Orchestra label. I tracked those down, but this is by far my favorite track by them.

“Leisure” was probably my least favourite Greenfield song – talk about musical differences…anyway, there were no other commercial releases apart from the 2 EP’s you listed. We demo’d tracks for a 3rd EP but the distributor went bust before we got to cut the tracks in the studio, although one indie labels catalogue gave it a listing as if it was actually released. The demo recordings were pretty good, and started taking us in a slightly pre-baggy/pre-Madchester groove….the tapes still exist somewhere, maybe they’ll surface on a Messthetics compliations one day….

really glad you like ‘Leisure’. I remember recording it vividly (mousehole studio, orpington). we had to work hard to get tight enough on the day!
